Jeep changed the badge style for the Badge of Hono

Jeep changed the badge style for the Badge of Honor program a year or so ago and sent me a set of new badges (missing 4, but just submitted those). I kinda like the old style better so I’m leaving the old ones on my Jeep.

My kids gave me a nice photo print of my Jeep in Sedona, so I added on a piece of black foam board and put the new badges on it. I think it came out kinda cool. 😊

There was one super bright star each night before it really started getting dark. Took a look at SkyView on my iPhone and turns out it’s the planet Venus. Cool.

So trying to flush the heater core failed. It started leaking pretty badly. Honestly it may have been leaking before because there was a faint smell of coolant when driving and the overflow was almost empty. So I went with the “easy” replacement which involved cutting part of the lower dash retaining frame, but made the replacement fast and simple. It gets HOT now from all vents. Good to have heat again!

Has anyone figured out how to dissolve the gel that forms when OAT and HOAT are mixed? My heater core is plugged. I know it’s that gel because I found about 2” of it at the bottom of my radiator overflow. Tried using some Green Gobbler enzyme drain cleaner (safe for all metals) overnight and it seemed to help some, but didn’t resolve the problem. I don’t know if I just didn’t use a strong enough concentration or if I need to leave it in the heater core for a longer length of time. Any ideas?

Yeah, this isn’t safe. 😞 Really need to replace my heater core or figure out how to get it unclogged. At some point a dealership topped off my coolant with the wrong stuff and a gel formed (found a thick layer at the bottom of my coolant overflow). Looks like a major project to do it the right way by removing the entire dash. Anyone have luck with using Cascade dishwasher soap to get rid of that gel? Tried flushing/back flushing without success...
